Organizers have announced plans for the second 1492 business launch competition aimed at finding the next great company. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to begin developing their pitch for submission to this accelerated business launch competition.
Based on a written business brief, ten finalists will be selected to make formal pitches before the 1492 judging committee. From those, five will be chosen to receive funding (up to $20,000 per startup), along with business coaching services to help launch their startup.
MobileXpeditions, a finalist in the inaugural 1492 competition, has gone on to raise additional capital and secure first customers for its location-based experience app, MX. MX provides media-rich tours, multi-media presentations, interactive games and more apps for engaging visitors with destinations. Entrepreneurs wanting to see their ideas come to life, just like MX, should start preparing their brief today.
1492 is collaboration among TechColumbus, Columbus State Community College and the Columbus College of Art & Design.
Details for 1492 are currently under development. However, deadline for submission has been set for October 12, 2011. Anyone wishing to be put on an email list to receive update announcements as details are finalized should contact Greg Pugh, director of IT commercialization with TechColumbus, at gpugh@techcolumbus.org.
