What is Advanced Materials?

The advanced materials platform covers the metals, alloys, ceramics, and glass sectors, polymers and other hybrid materials. The broad fields of expertise involved in the development of materials with new properties include the study of materials processing, deformation and fracture, environmental effects, structure and surfaces, and theoretical analysis. Advanced materials outperform conventional materials with superior properties such as toughness, hardness, durability and elasticity. Engaging in commercializing innovations in the advanced materials platform is a key in the transition of Central Ohio's economy accelerating the growth of new and existing businesses, creating higher-paying jobs and utilizing the expertise and knowledge in our region.
