Blake Thompson, Ph.D.,has been named vice president for what is being called the Battelle/Ohio State collaboration. This new joint appointment will be responsible for directing the initiatives and strategy development between the two institutions in the areas of laboratory science and technology, economic development and industrial relations.
Results of this collaboration are expected to positively impact the Central Ohio region through enhanced educational programs, industrial relations and economic growth through technology transfer. The region currently benefits from collaborative efforts between the two organizations including Metro High School and the Battelle Center for Mathematics and Science Education policy in the OSU John Glenn School of Public Affairs. In addition, Battelle’s president and CEO, Jeff Wadsworth, was named chair for the newly created OSU Medical Center Board of Directors.
Prior to his appointment, Thompson served in a similar capacity directing partnership initiatives between the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee creating new opportunities in research, educational outreach, economic development and technology transfer.
