Battelle Recognizes Student Achievement at Society

COLUMBUS, Ohio –Battelle announced two winners of the Battelle Student Research Award as well as a Student Travel Award at the Society of Toxicology’s 49th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo in Salt Lake City, UT March 8-10. The two, $2,500 Student Research Awards recognize outstanding dermal toxicology research and development. The fourth annual Student Travel Award recognizes a student of Hispanic origin or a student working on a project related to Hispanic health issues.

The recipients of the 2010 Student Research Awards are Laureen Mordasky Markell, Center for Molecular Toxicology and Carcinogenesis, Pennsylvania State University, and Gayatri Sankaran, Environmental Toxicology, University of California (Riverside). The 2010 Student Travel Award for the Hispanic Organization of Toxicologists (HOT) winner was Fanny L. Casado-Pena of the University of Rochester. For more than 80 years, Battelle has been a significant benefactor for educational and charitable enterprises.
