BUSINESS BREAKFAST: Developing Resilience: Techniques to Get You and Your Business Through Tough Times

Resilience is a hot topic these days as leaders try to bend with the winds of economic change without breaking.  Business ResilienceResearch links resilience with positive self-image, courage and commitment, emotional maturity and integrity.  The challenge seems to be what to do to develop resilience when yours is getting low.

 

Leadership consultant Dr. Belinda Gore of Metcalf & Associates will introduce key strategies for becoming a more resilient leader and building resilience in your organization.

 

Michael R. Sayre, currently on the Board of Directors of Pinnacle Data Systems, will discuss developing resilience from a leadership perspective.

 

Chris Shirer, President of Madison & Fifth, an interactive marketing firm in Columbus, will share her experience in being a resilient leader in a small business during a volatile economy.

  • Belinda Gore, Ph.D., is a professional coach and a leadership consultant as well as the Co-Director of the Enneagram Institute of Central Ohio.  She also serves as the President for The Cuyamungue Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico.   • Michael R. Sayre is an accomplished C-level leader with 20+ years of experience in starting up, turning around, growing, acquiring and divesting businesses in pre-revenue technology to $2B diversified manufacturing organizations.  He is currently on the Board of Directors of Pinnacle Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE AMEX:PNS) and was also  Pinnacle’s President & CEO (2006-2009) and EVP & CFO (2001-2006).  Prior to Pinnacle,  Mike was EVP & CFO of Logikeep, Inc., a network security intelligence start-up now owned by Cisco Systems.  He was the top accounting officer at Worthington Industries, Inc.   • Chris Shirer, is President of Madison & Fifth. Chris manages the team and all new business development and client relationships. She is the lead on all business purpose and interactive marketing strategy work with clients and is the person who executes site reviews and competitive analyses. Her clients include Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, Kokosing Construction Company, Adventure Aquarium and The Daimler Group. With respect to resilience, Chris navigated from sole proprietorship to corporate owner with employees over the course of 15 years.  She has personally experienced the range of panic and pleasure that accompanies self-employment, growing a business and managing it through vibrant and dismal economic times.
