| Description | Lake Shore Cryotronics is an international leader in developing innovative scientific measurement and control solutions, including cryogenic temperature sensors and instrumentation, magnetic test equipment, metrology systems, and probe stations used for characterizing the physical properties of materials. Engineers, physicists and scientists from our R&D, Design and Manufacturing Departments work concurrently under one roof, as their projects turn into products on our manufacturing floor. We are located in Westerville, a northeast suburb of Columbus OH. Due to continued growth, we are adding another Buyer/Planner to our Purchasing Department, reporting to the Purchasing Manager. Purpose: Coordinate activities involved with accurately planning and procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and manufacturing supplies; performs purchasing functions including preparation of purchase orders, change orders and supplier long-term agreements; executes policies, procedures and objectives for the operation of the purchasing department in accordance with corporate objectives and strategic plan; ensures the necessary purchases are made at lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery standards. Key Responsibilities: A. Responsible for the full planning and buying for assigned commodities and or suppliers to achieve maximum supplier performance. Using ERP and planning tools, analyze inventory order patterns and sales data to provide input for strategic purchasing decisions. B. Maintain the accuracy of purchase item data and planning parameters driving the ERP system. C. Provide uninterrupted flow of materials, supplies and services required by the company to operate on a daily basis; preparation and issuances of RFQ’s, obtaining quotations, negotiating price and delivery terms, and ensuring the accuracy of purchase order pricing; must be able to analyze bids for accuracy/cost reduction opportunities, and be able to summarize RFQ results to recommend a sourcing strategy. D. Contact suppliers to expedite deliveries, resolve shortages, and follow up on late deliveries or other problems; utilizes sound negotiation and analysis skills to reduce overall costs. E. Works closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to monitor and correct all supplier non-conformance issues; participates in cross-functional teams to identify and resolve problems or improve process. F. Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement, including supplier visits and interviews. Evaluate and measure supplier’s performance utilizing the supplier's scorecard evaluation and initiating corrective action when expectations are not met. Identifies areas of risk for the business (i.e.: delivery, quality, cost, performance, etc.) and makes recommendations mitigating risk. G. Assist in accounting discrepancies and pricing variance reports as directed by Purchasing Manager; coordinate with suppliers on Engineering Change Orders and properly document purchase order to maintain accurate record and communicate cost accordingly. H. Foster cross-functional teams to improve the development of new products and a positive team atmosphere; coordinate with all departments in the organization to bring new products to fruition; performs work related special projects, i.e.: engineering prototypes I. Work with and have functional knowledge of computer systems and general office equipment J. Proper and timely use of Time, Expense, and Mileage reporting in designated system K.
