Cardinal Health and Chicago’s Allscripts have announced an arrangement to create a distribution network for Allscripts’ MyWay EHR software and services. With the federal stimulus package calling for changes to healthcare reimbursements tied to the use of electronic health records (EHR), Cardinal Health has spent nearly 18 months looking at vendors who could provide services, products and methods to help physicians bring healthcare IT into their practices.
Allscripts is the nation’s largest EHR vendor and was chosen by Cardinal to create the Allscripts Distribution Network (ADN). ADN will target the approximately 160,000 U.S. one- to three-physician practices – only five percent of which have adopted EHRs.
