Central Ohio’s Startup Community Leading the Pack in First Ever 30-City Meetup

June 3, 2010

Last week nominations officially opened to determine the 30 cities that would take part in the largest ever multi-city Meetup.  The Meetup is being organized by This Week in Startups (TWiST) and scheduled for next Tuesday June 8th at 8 p.m.  The Meetup will stream an episode of the TWiST podcast and switch between each of 30 participating cities for product demos and Q&A.

To date, the Central Ohio startup community is leading the way in terms of the number of people interested in participating in the event.  Columbus currently has 77 people signed up as compared to Santa Monica (70), Louisville, KY (49), New York City (46), Chicago (35), San Francisco (26) and Charlotte NC (26) London UK (13).

“It's so amazing that Columbus OH is the biggest group so far.... can't believe you guys are beating NYC and Los Angeles/Santa Monica!!!” commented Jason McCabe Calacanis, This Week In Startups founder.
Startups who would like to have their companies showcased via this national podcast should prepare a three-minute, three-slide presentation of their idea and submit it to Kevin Gadd, TechColumbus director of IT Commercialization, at kgadd@techcolumbus.org    Deadline for submitting your ideas for consideration is Monday June 7th at Noon.

All those who have voted for Columbus to be one of the 30 cities are encouraged to come out on Tuesday night to show the full force of the Central Ohio startup community.  And if you haven’t signed up yet, do so today to keep Central Ohio ahead of the pack.
