OhioHealth and OCLC have both been named to the 17th annual ComputerWorld List of Best Places to Work in IT.
OhioHealth, which counts among its employees 340 IT professionals, was ranked 30th out of the list of Top 100. OhioHealth received its highest marks for employee retention (IT turnover is reportedly nine percent). The healthcare system puts employee recognition and rewards high on its list of priorities with bonuses for perfect attendance, employee appreciation events and tuition reimbursement for employees and their families.
Dublin, Ohio’s OCLC made the list at #38. The nonprofit computer library service and research organization offers a host of perks, service awards and alternative work schedules to its employees. It is also unique in that it offers three retirement packages which feature generous matching programs and maximum allowable contributions per the IRS tax code.
This is the fifth consecutive year that OCLC, whose IT turnover is reported to be just four percent, has been named to the list. Nearly half of the organization’s entire workforce is considered to be in the IT field (412 out of 977 employees).
“We are extremely proud to make this list five years in a row,” says Jay Jordan, OCLC president and CEO. “This recognition from ComputerWorld provides further evidence that the Columbus area does indeed attract and retain the best and brightest IT talent. TechColumbus certainly deserves substantial credit for shining a light on information technology in Central Ohio.”
