The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) has announced awards to three Central Ohio companies to support expansion projects expected to create and retain jobs in the region.
Brand Thunder was awarded $975,000 from the Innovation Ohio Loan Fund for software development and intellectual property protection, which will allow the company to attract new customers and expand their business, while creating a projected 15 new jobs. Brand Thunder provides patent-pending solutions for extending company branding to the browser for some of the most recognizable brands in sports music and the Internet.
Iosil Energy Corporation has been awarded a 50 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a six-year term as a result of the company's new location in the Greater Columbus Area. The more than $5.25 million project is expected to create 20 jobs in the region. Iosil Energy produces high purity polysilicon for use in the solar photovoltaic industry. Iosil plans to build a pilot manufacturing plant and prepare for commercial introduction.
SCI Engineered Materials has been awarded a 166 Direct Loan in the amount of $744,250 to be used for the acquisition of production machinery and equipment to support the company’s planned expansion of their Central Ohio manufacturing operations which is expected to create 50 jobs and assist in retaining 26 positions. SCI was also awarded a 45 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for a five-year term for the expansion project. SCI manufactures ceramic and metal targets used for advanced applications such as photonics, precision optics and semi conductors.
The Innovation Ohio Loan Fund assists existing Ohio companies in developing next-generation products in industry sectors that include: advanced materials; instrument, controls, and electronics; power and propulsion; biosciences; and information technology. The 166 Direct Loan program provides loans for land and building acquisition, expansion or renovation, and equipment purchase.
