Central Ohio Seniors Awarded Scholarships from BioOhio

May 5, 2011

Five high school seniors, including two from Central Ohio, have been named as winners in the 2011 BioOhio Scholarships program.  Founded in 2009, the program is designed to encourage and advance bioscience-related education and career interests in Ohio.

Christina Ciccone from Pickerington High School plans to attend Ohio Northern University while Hunter LeCorgne from St. Charles Preparatory School will attend The Ohio State University. Both will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,300.

To be considered for a scholarship, the student must live in Ohio, be a senior or senior-equivalent in good standing, and plan to pursue a bioscience-related degree at an Ohio college. Application evaluations emphasized letters of recommendation and an essay describing their interest in the bioscience field and how they will prepare for a bioscience career.

The other three winners include Antonio Ganios from Hoover High School in North Canton, Nicholas Kar from Shaker Heights High School and Purva Patel from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
