ChumpDump “THE” Twitter Unfollow Game For Google Android and Apple iPhone Mobile Phone Platforms Turns Twitter Usage Upside Down!

July 16, 2010

ChumpDump “THE” Twitter Unfollow Game for Google Android and Apple iPhone mobile phone platforms is now available for download to the general public. ChumpDump is a game wrapped around the concept that we're all following way too many people on Twitter and that our friends list is bloated with chumps.

Friends are today’s 21st century currency in life, you see it in every social network, this obsession with collecting friends. But how many of them are really friends? That is the question ChumpDump forces its user’s to answer!

How ChumpDump Works

The ChumpDump lottery picks a winner out of your friends list each day and then digs through a month of tweets. It tells you a story about this "supposed" friend you've been following. The analysis includes the
usual: number of direct messages (DM’s), number of replies, are they even following you, to mores sophisticated analysis methods like a Klout influence score (www.klout.com) and even a social graph for you to check out. The game then begs the big question- SAVE or DUMP.

Players earn extra points when they give the whys behind the dumps and saves this bit of information makes playing or just checking out the game worth it.

What We Learn

“This ‘why’ data goes after THE biggest question on twitter and social networks today, how do people determine who to follow online and why?” explained Dan Rockwell, co-creator of ChumpDump , “ We all have expectations into who we choose to followonline. Today however we're all following so many friends, we've often forgotten why and the fire hose of status updates drowns us over time. ChumpDump brings that whole reality to light and asks you simply to clean up your friends list- who is worthy and who’s the chump, and best of all, tell us why.”

The game shares the whys with everyone playing, everyone can see why in an anonymous way so that we don’t know who did what. Players are even given the opportunity to tweet out their dumps and saves- surprisingly a lot of do just that. The game also sports a popular game mechanic found in many online, mobile and location based games today- badges. Player earn rewards not just in a simple point system but are offered badges for unique wins within the game. “Players want to be recognized...” Said Rocky VanBrimmer ChumpDumps co-creator. “You need to constantly show the fun of the game so that people keep playing can earn something in return for telling us why they save this person or dump another.” The game leverages advertising through AdMob and offers players to buy ways to bypass the lottery and dump and save friends on demand. Recognition in the game fuels this and already ChumpDump is compelling people to compete and be noticed.

The future of the game is unwritten as players continue to play, the engine that powers ChumpDump learns what quality means to people, and that is something Rockwell and VanBrimmer feel is worth something.

How it came to be?

ChumpDump was conceived in the last 3 hours at Startup Weekend Columbus 2010. Local social media strategist Rocky VanBrimmer (Senior Partner at Start Engaging Others) and Dan Rockwell (Co-Founder of BigKittyLabs) tossed around the idea for a half joke half real product, a game called ChumpDump. As conversations went on, the team clearly saw the real promise in the idea and with BigKittyLabs they produced a beta in just 30 days and after 3 months of internal testing- bam here we go, ChumpDump live for the masses.

ChumpDump is available today for Google Android and Apple iPhone. Come on in, the waters warm and get ready to dump a chump or two! ChumpDump can be found online at www.ChumpDump.com, on Twitter: @ChumpDump and on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/ChumpDump.
