The City of Dublin and the DIBAC -Dublin International Business Assistance Center: Int’l Business Updates: Challenges and Opportunities in Doing Business with(in) China

China is the world's second largest economy after the US. The world's fastest-growing major economy (average annual growth rate of nearly 10%), China is the largest exporter and second largest importer of goods in the world.  China continues to present tremendous opportunities for the U.S. goods and services providers, even amid global economic gloom.  U.S. goods exports to China in 2010 were $91.9 billion, up 32.2% from 2009.  Between January to September 2011, U.S. goods exports to China surge to $74.5 billion, an 18.4% increase compared with the same time period in 2010.* Along with the increasing U.S. exports to China, we also see a rising number of Chinese business investment activities in the U.S., including recent high profile investment projects such as SANY Heavy Industry Co.’s modern manufacture plant in Peachtree City, Georgia, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s acquisition of Volvo Car Corporation, China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co.’s acquisition of Cirrus Aircraft, and joint venture deal between China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Chesapeake Energy Corporation.

The seminar will bring the experts who regularly assist with the U.S. exports to China, as well as professionals who have been actively involved in the US-China business investment matters, discussing the latest opportunities and challenges in doing business with(in) China.  The seminar intends to cover topics such as updates on Chinese outbound investment, Chinese industrial/sectors, intellectual property, currency valuation, as well as U.S. export assistance programs and U.S. export financing programs.   The targeted audience shall be those who are interested in Chinese investment opportunities in the U.S. and those who are interested in selling their goods or services to China.
