Overview:
Scrum Buts are obstacles commonly encountered by most organizations during the adoption phases of Scrum. Scrum Buts are reasons why organizations find it difficult to take full advantage of Scrum to solve the problems and realize the potential benefits the Scrum framework can provide. They are cultural attitudes, traditional practices, and excuses for breaking or modifying the rules of Scrum.
In this interactive presentation, Todd Greene will give an overview of several common Scrum Buts that many organizations are likely to encounter, and will discuss some insights and approaches for overcoming each of them. This discussion will begin with the following:
* We want to use Scrum, but our “resources” come from a Shared Services organization structure so they cannot be 100% allocated.
* We use Scrum, But we are typically not able to get our user-stories “Done” within a single sprint.
* We use Scrum, But we have difficulty getting the support we need from our business team or Product Owner.

About the Presenter: Todd Greene
Todd is currently a Principal Consultant leading the Agile Advisory Services Group at Cardinal Solutions in Columbus, OH, and is helping lead an Operational Efficiencies initiative for the Internet Sales team at Nationwide Insurance. Todd has over eight years of experience working with Agile project teams, starting in 2003 when he helped lead and promote the adoption of Scrum and XP Progressive Insurance in Cleveland, OH. Since then, he has been a Development Team Member, Iteration Manager / Scrum Master, Product Owner, Project Sponsor, and Advisory Team Coach for Agile teams in various organizations across Ohio. Most recently, Todd worked with Ken Schwaber and Scrum.Org to become a Professional Certified Scrum Master – Levels I & II.
