Columbus Metropolitan Library Receives Top Ranking in Recent Library Index

February 20, 2009

Library Journal’s LJ Index of Public Library Service has rated the Columbus Metropolitan Library as a five-star library and ranked it as the highest scoring library in its division (the largest library system division). This follows on the heels of the library being ranked the #1 Library in America last October by the Hennen Rankings, a ranking of libraries according to federal statistics. The LJ Index utilizes four related per capita output indicators in order to rank libraries. These include circulation, user visits, public Internet computer use and program attendance.

“This is another important achievement for our library, mostly because it reflects your love of this institution,” said Patrick Losinski, the library’s executive director.  “Whether you are a member of the staff, board of trustees, Friends of the Library, Foundation, or one of our terrific customers, you understand what it means to have a great library in our community. It is the passion and the dedication of you all that makes us as successful as we are.”
