Columbus Ranked One of America’s Best Cities to Find a Job – Strength of IT Sector Cited as One Key to Region’s Ranking

August 27, 2009

US News & World Report has released a report ranking Columbus among the top ten cities in America in which to find a job.  Columbus made the list based on a number of factors including the strength of IT employment in the region.  Bill LaFayette, vice president of economic analysis for the Columbus Chamber, was quoted in the story citing employment in information technology occupations as significantly higher than in comparably sized regions because "so many of our sectors are voracious consumers of data" and need top-notch IT infrastructure.

The report further credits the city’s diverse economy for much of its resilience with technology, healthcare, hospitality and manufacturing contributing plenty of jobs.

This ranking follows the previous designation of Columbus as the #1 Up and Coming Tech City by Forbes magazine.
