NCSI Workshop
SC09 and the Ohio Supercomputer Center's Ralph Regula School of Computational Science announce the summer workshop:
"Computational Engineering for Engineering Educators"
WHO:
Faculty interested in developing or expanding their undergraduate computational engineering coursework is invited to attend.
DESCRIPTION:
Focusing on applications of computational science in engineering and bioengineering education, undergraduate and graduate engineering faculty, as well as industry professionals, will provide in-depth coursework as part of the "Computational Engineering for Engineering Educators" workshop.
Faculty will introduce the basic competencies for modeling and simulation for undergraduate engineers and provide hands-on examples using MATLAB, Vensim, and other modeling tools. Attendees also will have the opportunity for advanced sessions such as signal image processing using parallel MATLAB and several other applications, computational fluid dynamics using the OpenFOAM, open source packages, bioengineering, and one or two other subareas, depending upon demand. Participants will be provided with examples of successful modeling and simulation exercises from several areas of engineering and will then be assisted to formulate a project for their own classroom use.
Participants receive course materials, lodging and most meals at no cost; attendees are responsible for travel expenses, local transportation, and a $150 fully refundable deposit.

About the RRSCS:
The Ralph Regula School of Computational Science is a statewide, virtual school focused on computational science. It is a collaborative effort of the Ohio Board of Regents, Ohio Supercomputer Center, Ohio Learning Network and Ohio's colleges and universities. The school acts as a coordinating entity for a variety of computational science education activities aimed at making education in computational science available to students across Ohio, as well as to workers seeking continuing education about this technology.
SC Education:
The SC Education Program portion of the annual SC Conference focuses on engaging educators and students across the K-20 spectrum in learning about the latest technologies and applications for advancing scientific discovery. The educators are supported in their endeavors to integrate emerging technologies and methodologies into the preparation of the future workforce.
