Education

- 2-5 years of experience is good, Certs not required, in networking and hardware support and troubleshooting in a mission critical data center environment. - An Associate or Bachelor degree from a technical institution preferred. - CCNA certification a plus - A+ certification a plus.

Experience

- Experience working with core Operating Systems: Windows and Linux, - Experience in: Cisco LAN/WAN physical layer connections and familiarity with IOS access,. - In-depth experience troubleshooting HP servers and server components such as motherboards, array controllers and network cards, processors, memory and SCSI - Experience/Understanding of ticket management software - Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as a part of a larger team with minimal supervision. - Able to multi-task in high pressure situations. - Ability to document complex problem resolution summaries and repetitive tasks - Ability to demonstrate effective teaming and interpersonal skills - Exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills - Good attitude, professional demeanor, excellent communication, able to work well in a team.

8-5 Mon-Fri, May move to rotating on call/Weekends, Occasional Weekends

Overview:
Provide on-site technical support performing but not limited to network and system troubleshooting, hardware upgrades and installations, swapping hardware components, cable testing and troubleshooting for a large number of HP, CISCO, IBM and other network and system devices. Liaison to local and global client support teams ensuring that work is performed within Service Level Agreement timeframes. Adhere to proper change control and incident management policies and procedures and ensure that ticketing and asset databases are updated accordingly.

Responsibilities:
Monitor and respond to change control and incident management ticketing system requests. The technician is the hands on support performing tasks such as hardware, software, and network troubleshooting, server imaging, deployment, configuration, rebuild and decommissions. This position includes customer interaction that requires excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills as well as exceptional technical capabilities. Perform new installations racking and stacking, cable pulls, and cable testing. Perform ad hoc requests as directed by on-site management. This role includes shift and weekend work as needed. Shift work is required as the facility is supported 24 x 7 x 365.

 

Responsibilities Include:

-Provide "Remote Hands" assistance, as requested by customers

- Perform power cycles, physical equipment and cabling inspections

- Swap out failed components

- Testing of copper and fiber cables

- Install/upgrade/replace server, device or network components or as needed

- Install/replace/remove servers, devices and networking equipment

- Handle storage media

- Enter troubleshooting commands as directed by agency business support teams.

- Monitor and Operate Data Centers critical functions and facilities to meet or exceed established   Service Levels Agreements

- Measure and record vital statistics and produce appropriate reports, including shift and weekly reports

- Record and maintain accurate incident and change records and logs

- Respond physically to trouble situations within the local facility and conduct troubleshooting (including of telecom circuits) as may be required

- Conduct routine walkthroughs of local facility, correcting both appearance and functional   imperfections

- Perform inventory maintenance for information management support

- Perform rack maintenance as assigned

- Chaperone vendors and guests at the local facility, as may become necessary

- Provide hospitable and enthusiastic assistance to customers and prospects, whether on phone or on premises.

- Monitor, correct, and report observed infractions of security and operations policies and procedures.

- Communicate regularly with peer Technicians in other Team facilities regarding operational situations and health

- Contribute suggestions for improvements in the quality, integrity, and efficiency of operations regularly

- Adapt to temporary shift schedule changes required to deal with absences of other personnel

- Perform tasks as assigned with minimal supervision

- Perform tasks within a collaborative team environment

- Perform ticket management as required

 
Special Skill Requirements:

- Availability to occasionally work extra hours (including weekends) per an on-call basis

- Must have dependable transportation

- Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 75 pounds

- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
