DataCenter.BZ Announces Expansion of its Tier IV Data Center in Columbus, Ohio to 62,000 Square Feet

November 26, 2010

DataCenter.BZ, a Tier IV, carrier-neutral data center and regional provider of dark fiber announced today the ground-breaking of its 35,000-square foot data center expansion. In order to welcome to Central Ohio several large, national businesses who have selected DataCenter.BZ and Columbus to locate key technology and communications infrastructure as well as to continue to meet local and regional demand for its market leading data center services—including Tier IV facility design, ultra-high power densities and access to the region’s largest collection of carriers and alternate fiber networks—DataCenter.BZ has begun construction of a new data center on its existing telecom campus. Such expansion, which represents 100% new construction and not a retrofit of an existing facility, will be completed in early 2011.

Once the expansion is complete, DataCenter.BZ will operate 85,000 square feet total facility space from its 5-acre campus, including 62,000 square feet of data center space and carrier-neutral colocation. Features include:

  • As with its existing Tier IV data center, DataCenter.BZ’s new data center is also a Tier IV design, raised floor facility with 25-foot tall ceilings and high wind and micro burst ratings built to Miami-Dade hurricane standards with multiple independently-layered, roof systems rated for 145 mph winds
  • Data center expansion includes an additional 2,000 tons of cooling and an additional 18 MW of utility power from dual power grid feeds along with multiple fully-redundant generators as part of a complete 2N power distribution design
  • Data center customers are provided dedicated cabinets and up to 15,000-sf cage configurations
  • Hosted solutions and managed services available from multiple service providers; onsite 24x7 NOC
  • LEED certified with classrooms, implementing EERs of 23+ for chillers and 75+ for air handlers
  • A minimum 500 watts per square foot of customer power load is provided for across the entire data center floor
  • Data center customers have access to more than a dozen carriers and customers take advantage of $50/mo. carrier cross connects or access DataCenter.BZ’s fully redundant Cisco Core with 4 IP carriers optimized with Cisco Performance Routing. The region’s dark fiber networks also run through the facility and dark fiber point-to-point and dedicated ring configuration IRUs are also available directly from DataCenter.BZ

Complementing its 62,000 square feet of data center space, following expansion DataCenter.BZ will also have available for its customers an additional 23,000 square feet of flexible and long-term office and other soft space, including a new Central Ohio Hot Site providing real-time workforce recovery seating for multiple customers requiring between 10 and 150 seats. DataCenter.BZ’s Hot Site is designed to provide real-time workforce recovery for data center customers.

Please stay tuned for additional expansion updates as well as details regarding the facility’s ribbon-cutting ceremony in early 2011.
