Education

- Education - 4 year degree in related field - Certifications such as MCDBA, MCTS, MCITP, MCAD, MCSD strongly preferred. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience

- At least 10 years experience in understanding relational database models and developing database queries. - At least 8 years experience designing and developing databases and database-driven applications using Microsoft SQL Server. - At least 5 years of data warehouse/business intelligence experience. - At least 3 years supervising a DBA team - Working knowledge of the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - Basic understanding of Microsoft SharePoint and/or Microsoft PerformancePoint preferred.

Description

Accountable for coordinating and managing the DBA team, which develops and maintains database application and reporting systems to meet the information requirements of corporate and store users. DBAs provide second level technical support for all customer and 3rd party database systems in the enterprise. Our client operates and supports several 24 hour stores and stores across multiple time zones, for which appropriate DBA support coverage must be provided and managed. While the DBA Manager position is primarily a management position, approximately 40-50% of the manager's time will be spent designing and implementing database solutions as well as interacting with and supporting internal customers.
Major Responsibilities:
-  Guides and directs the DBA team standards, initiatives, deployment of new and existing database technologies
-  Develops standards, policies, workflows and processes to increase efficiencies and improve overall quality of delivered solutions
-  Defines standard measurements for quality and customer satisfaction requirements.
-  Develops and utilizes key performance indicators to measure and improve team processes and overall effectiveness and ensure support of business goals through achievement of defined technology service levels.
-  Manages the selection, placement, and orientation of new staff members.Responsible for ongoing performance management, mentoring, training requirements, salary recommendations and development of staff.
-  Advises team members regarding administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.
-  Develops, maintains, and supports database applications on Microsoft SQL Server.
-  Perform database analysis and troubleshooting on MS SQL Server databases.
-  Create and update required technical documentation.
-  Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions.
-  Foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.
-  Goals-oriented proactive team player with the demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced professional environment.
-  Critical thinker with outstanding problem solving skills that can make independent decisions within area of responsibility and expertise.
 
Travel:
-   Occasional travel (less than 20%) may be required for store visits, meeting with vendors, etc.
