Department of Defense Awards Multimillion Dollar Contracts to Battelle

The Department of Defense has renewed Battelle’s contract to provide research work for the Scientific Services program administered by the U.S. Army Research Office in Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC. This expands Battelle’s existing contract as the main contractor for this program by $78.5 million through 2011.

Battelle was also awarded two new U.S. Air Force contracts. The Air Force allocated $32.4 million for Battelle to evaluate and recommend steps to modernize chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear equipment, then give recommendations for engineering and training. A second contract for $5.5 million was awarded to test technology against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attack for a program to provide protective equipment at Pentagon facilities.
