Alan Cullop, EVP and CIO, of NetJets Inc. will provide an overview of NetJets unique business model created by Richard Santulli in 1986 and its rapid growth to become the world's largest air carrier in terms of fleet size. Alan will discuss how technology transformed from a cost center to become a strategic enabler for NetJets enabling growth and incremental revenues. Alan will also discuss economic factors, regulatory, environmental responsibilities, and factors for its continued growth.
Alan S. Cullop
Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer,
Alan S. Cullop is currently chief information officer and executive vice president with NetJets Inc., a multi-billion dollar Berkshire Hathaway company and the world’s largest air carrier. He joined the company in 2005 and implemented a business focused strategy that maximizes the return on IT investments. Mr. Cullop’s strategy focuses IT resources on projects that provide competitive advantage. Through collaboration with business leaders, the business and IT teams have collectively delivered projects utilizing advanced analytics, business process reengineering and internal process optimization to significantly impact top and bottom line performance. Mr. Cullop brings 20 years of global information technology and business experience to his current role.
Prior to joining NetJets, Mr. Cullop was senior vice president and chief technology officer of Cendant Corporation. Mr. Cullop led a transformation of technology at Cendant, consolidating 26 business units in 130 countries into a single shared service creating competitive advantage through speed to market and low cost of delivery. The transformation resulted in improvement of business unit satisfaction by more than 43% while eliminating more than $300 million in costs.
Prior to joining Cendant, Mr. Cullop was employed at Equant, NV, a $1.5 billion global technology company where he served as Vice President and General Manager of the Application Development Services Division. Alan was responsible for leading all aspects of the business in the Americas.
Prior to his experience at Equant, Mr. Cullop was Director of Technology for Bass, plc and held various positions of increased responsibility with MCI Telecommunications over an 11 year term.
Mr. Cullop has served on the Board of Directors of SITA, a diversified global company that provides technology services including applications development and networking in 200 countries. Mr. Cullop also served on the Board of Directors for Tripeze.com, a Canadian e-commerce company, which was successfully acquired by Sears Corporation. Mr. Cullop serves on the governance committee of the CIO Symposium, the CIO Forum and the CIO Solutions Gallery.
Alan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1987 and was a member of the Leadership Forum at the DuPree College of Management at Georgia Tech in Atlanta from 1998-2000.
