We'll conclude our moderated discussion with a brief presentation on experiences, adopting Agile within Central Ohio. We'll also take a look at national trends in Agile, the top challenges transforming at the enterprise level, and some of the most effective techniques to get started.

Linda Farrenkopf – Senior Project Consultant, Sophisticated Systems
Linda has over 5 years experience in leading agile application development teams. She has experience blending practices from XP, RUP and Scrum and introducing agile practices in challenging environments. Linda has been a consultant for over 18 years providing project and program management services to local businesses such as Nationwide, Sterling Commerce, Qwest, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Applied Innovation, and Liebert.

James (Jay) M. Johnson – Director, Information Technology, Nationwide
Jay has over 22 years of experience in information technology within financial services, manufacturing and distribution, and commercial software development. He is currently Director of IT Applications Development at Nationwide and has responsibility for all applications supporting their retirement plans business segment.

Gene Johnson – Fairhaven Solutions
Gene Johnson is owner of Fairhaven Solutions, a business and IT services company with a focus on helping clients become nimble, reliable and efficient by empowering their teams and dramatically increasing operational efficiency. Since 2000, Fairhaven has supported several clients including Nationwide Insurance, UBS, KeyCorp  and National City by helping to establish enterprise wide solution delivery methodologies.
 
Matt Van Vleet – Pillar Technologies
Matt has developed a testing practice focused on functional test automation and application performance management. Mr. Van Vleet founded a company, Solstice Software, that wrote Automated Unit and Integration Testing Products and continues to push the envelope of what is possible with test automation. Within Pillar he is one of the key innovators around our approach, Speed To Value, focusing on the critical areas of project management practices, requirements management, and test driven development.


Walt den Haan – President, denHaan Consulting Group
Mr. den Haan is President of denHaan Consulting Group in the Central Ohio area. Walter has over 25 years in information technology and 4 years in software delivery in an Agile delivery model.  Walter has worked for international firms like ThoughtWorks in Chicago. ThoughtWorks was one of the early adopters of delivery software in an Agile framework and engineering practices.  Walter is currently working with a local client in Columbus that has undergone agile transformation.  Walter’s role in the transformation is an Iteration Manager on a strategic project.
