Entrepreneurship is Core Strategy in Chamber’s Columbus 2020! Initiative

February 25, 2010

During its Annual Meeting held earlier this week, the Columbus Chamber unveiled a collaborative initiative designed to take the region’s business economy to the next level over the next ten years.  The Columbus 2020!  initiative focuses on three core strategies to ensure the economic success of the region over the next decade.  One of these core strategies is to leverage the region’s research assets and its entrepreneurs to create more commercial enterprises.

In breakout session, the Chamber laid out its vision for Columbus 2020!  which is for Columbus to be recognized as a vibrant and successful region where emerging innovation, thriving talent and a collaborative culture generate one of the fastest growing economies in the nation and one of the nation’s leaders in economic development.

According to Alex Fischer, president and CEO of The Columbus Partnership, the community collaboration on this initiative is unprecedented.  More than 1,100 community and business leaders from large and small companies attended the meeting.

In addition to leveraging innovation in support of new companies and entrepreneurs, Columbus 2020! calls for the retention and expansion of existing companies, and the attraction of new major employers to the region.
