Dublin Lands Best Innovation in Economic Development Award

Columbus Ranked 8th Metro for New and Expanded Business Facilities

Columbus recently ranked 8th among large metropolitan areas for its new and expanded corporate facilities in Site Selection Magazine’s annual ranking.  The rankings are based on the number of capital investments to build or expand facilities towards the creation of new jobs.  In 2008, more than 120 businesses entered or expanded in the Central Ohio region, committing to an investment of nearly $800 million and creating more than 15,000 jobs.   [Read More]

Congress Passes Bill to Temporarily Extend SBIR Program

Earlier this week, both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate passed a bill to temporarily extend the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.  The program, which was enacted in 1982, then reauthorized in 1986, 1992, and 2000, was set to expire September 30, 2008.  This deadline was extended six months and was set to expire today, March 20, 2009.  The new bill temporarily extends the program through July 31, 2009.   [Read More]

Pinnacle Data Systems Sees 62% Increase in 4Q Profits

Crediting efforts over the last two years to leave behind less profitable programs and focus on recession-resistant businesses, Pinnacle Data Systems announced to investors a profit increase of 62 percent for fourth quarter 2008.  The company earned $336,000, or 4 cents a share, in fourth quarter 2008 as compared to $208,000, or 3 cents a share, in fourth quarter 2007.  Revenue however fell 12 percent during the quarter to $16.1 million from $18.3 million.    [Read More]
