Columbus Ranked One of America’s Best Cities to Find a Job – Strength of IT Sector Cited as One Key to Region’s Ranking
US News & World Report has released a report ranking Columbus among the top ten cities in America in which to find a job. Columbus made the list based on a number of factors including the strength of IT employment in the region. Bill LaFayette, vice president of economic analysis for the Columbus Chamber, was quoted in the story citing employment in information technology occupations as significantly higher than in comparably sized regions because "so many of our sectors are voracious consumers of data" and need top-notch IT infrastructure.

State of Ohio Announces Funding Opportunities and Awards
The Ohio Department of Development this week announced the availability of $14 million for development of renewable energy programs. This is the first set of renewable energy grants in the state to be funded through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The program is seeking qualifying projects in the areas of solar electric, solar thermal and wind electric technologies. Awards will range in size from $225,000 to $1 million. PercuVision, a Columbus-based developer of a medical device to visually guide medical staff through insertion of a urethral catheter has received clearance to go to market from the Food & Drug Administration. Multi-Disciplined Team of OSU Students Creating Solar-Powered Home for Competition in Solar Decathlon
Students from 13 different disciplines across OSU are actively preparing for competition in the Solar Decathlon, an international competition between 20 universities to build and transport an 800-square-foot solar powered home for display on the National Mall in Washington DC this October. The competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, is expected to draw nearly 300,000 visitors during the event’s 10- day run.
