Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Designates Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a Translational Research Center in its Clinical Trials Network
Nationwide Children’s Hospital has been designated as one of 13 special translational research centers which are part of the clinical trials network for Cystic Fibrosis research. Translational research centers will lead the newest Phase I clinical trials and provide specific direction to the entire network of clinical trial sites, which currently includes 77 sites.

OSU Center for Personalized Health Care Hosts National Conference - Announces Partnership in Study to Provide Genetic Mapping for 100,000 Individuals Worldwide
Amid its preparations for hosting the nation’s 2009 Personalized Healthcare Conference October 1-2, the OSU Medical Center also announced a new partnership between its Center for Personalized Health Care and the Coriell Institute for Medical Research. OSU will participate in the Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative (CPMC), an initiative whose goal is to provide personal genetic information to more than 100,000 people worldwide. For its part of the program, OSU will help recruit and enroll 2,000 participants to receive a personalized genetics study.

Fifteen Companies Including One in Central Ohio Receive Tax Credits for Job Expansion and Retention
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved 15 companies for Job Creation Tax Credits that are expected to create 1,223 new positions while retaining 1,119 jobs in the state. Among those companies receiving tax credits was Plain City’s Eden Cryogenics, LLC. Eden Cryogenics makes cryogenic products for the alternative fuel, energy, aerospace and commercial cryogenic and vacuum markets. The company received a 50 percent job creation tax credit for seven years for a $2.3 million project that is expected to generate 30 new jobs and retain 23.
