Field Service Engineer, IBM RS6000 Experience

Three or more years of prior experience required in field service or support. Post-secondary education preferred. Manufacturer training a plus.

CANDIDATE MUST HAVE IBM Mainframe RS6000 EXPERIENCE & pSeries! IBM RS6000 experience is very important to have and SUN experience would be ideal, but if the candidate has the RS6000 experience, our client could train them on the SUN products. This person would be traveling for field service probably within a 2 hour radius of Columbus and their mileage would be reimbursed, as well as any parking tolls that they may incur. Detailed job description: Our client provides proactive and remedial hardware maintenance on servers and peripherals for the following platforms: - HP 9000 - Sun Microsystems - DEC AlphaServer - IBM RS/6000 series - Compaq ProLiant servers - Dell PowerEdge servers -VAX -Alpha -VMS -AIX Familiarity with system installation, hardware replacement procedures and firmware upgrades required. Candidates should be experienced with disk and tape sub-systems, including RAID arrays and tape libraries. Seeking field engineers with the ability to interpret and diagnose system error logs. Knowledge of diagnostics, system exercisers and Operating System utilities used to troubleshoot, interrogate, re-configure and test mid-range to enterprise class servers required.
