Forbes Ranks Delaware County Second in the Nation for Best Places to Get Ahead

February 5, 2010

“Living in Delaware County is, in some ways, a smarter career move than packing up and heading for Wall Street or Silicon Valley,” according to the authors of a recent story in Forbes that ranked Delaware County, Ohio #2 in its list of Ten Best Places to Get Ahead.

With three-year income growth of 11 percent between 2007 and 2009, Forbes reported that Delaware County is one of the best places in America for professionals.  Delaware is the fastest-growing county in the state and it has benefitted both from a diverse mix of jobs that has kept the economy strong, and family-friendly neighborhoods.

The study focused on counties where the median household income was $75,000 per year or higher, rather than those where the average incomes were low to average.  This helped focus on places where professionals could earn a solid salary and move up quickly.
Snapshot of Delaware County Survey Results:

  • Median Household Income in 2007:     $80,448
  • Median Household Income in 2008:    $88,899
  • Change in Income            10.50%
  • Change in Jobs, 2007-2009        2.22%
