Being prepared means knowing your situation and what alternatives exist, to select the best plan for your company and employees. During this presentation you’ll gain insights, strategies and specific implementation recommendations designed to lower the cost of your company health benefits. This session will allow attendees to better understand the external market, tips on how to maintain, analyze and use your claims data to maximize cost saving strategies and accurately benchmark your current plan against your peers. Session 3- Worker's Compensation Q&A The Ohio Workers Compensation landscape continues to evolve as a result of the Governors initiatives to make Ohio a more competitive state for employers to do business in. This session will offer a closer look at some of these new-business-inspiring changes from both a State Insurance Fund and Self-Insured perspective, and help employers identify their resources to navigate the pitfalls and take advantage of their cost-reduction opportunities. Topics include the Evolution of Ohio Group Rating, Alternative Risk Financing Considerations, an Update of the Privatization considerations for the workers compensation system in the state and the Governors priorities for the workers compensation system. A question and answer session will follow so active participation will be encouraged.


Speaker Details:

Matt Byrne is President of MyHealthQuoter.com, a division of Spiralight Group, a health insurance brokerage firm specializing in affordable solutions for individuals, families and employer sponsored plans. Matt has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University and holds a life and health insurance license. He serves on the board of Central Ohio Professional Education Council (COPEC) and the Foundation Board of Trustees for First Community Church.

 

T. Cary Jennings, Strategic Business Services, Principal and Managing Partner with 17 years of experience both on the consulting and carrier sides of the employee benefits business. Cary’s professional background has focused on brokerage/consulting services for medium and large sized companies assisting them in managing their fully insured and self insured employee benefits programs. Cary is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters and a member of the Columbus Association of Group Executives. Cary graduated from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

 

Sherm Caldwell's experience includes 14 years in claims management leadership in the workers comp TPA industry, 11 years in the sales environment including 4 years in executive sales leadership, specializing in large complex selling situations. Prior to joining Benefits1Group in December, 2009, Sherm served as Vice President, Client Service for a global business processing firm in the workers compensation TPA practice. He was responsible for a 7 member Account Executive team which managed a $17 million book of business including client retention, cross-selling of support products, large hybrid-program development and alternative pricing methodologies. He holds a degree in Radiologic Technology from Central Ohio Technical College.
