Join us for an engaging discussion on The Horn of Africa and Somalia with keynote remarks from the former Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed “Farmajo”. Having just returned to the United States from his post in Somalia, the Rt. Hon Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo of Somalia will present his accounts of governance, his views on US foreign policy toward his native homeland, and implications for Columbus’ large Somali population.
Mr. Mohamed was born in Mogadishu, Somalia and holds dual Somali/U.S. citizenship. He was educated in the United States where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University at Buffalo. Before assuming his post as Prime Minister, he worked at different capacities with the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Somali Embassy in Washington, the City of Buffalo, Erie County, New York State and with various human rights organizations. Mr Mohamed also taught leadership skills and conflict resolution at SUNY, Erie Community College.
