Hyper Tech Research Selected as a NASA Success Story

September 9, 2010

Hyper Tech Research Inc., a Central Ohio startup, was recently selected as a NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) success story. Hyper Tech Research has developed Magnesium Diboride (MgB2) Superconducting Coils which have commercial applications such as improving the efficiency of open MRI systems and reducing the wear on circuit breakers used by utility companies. NASA sees applications for the technology in such areas as developing light weight, small and high density adiabatic demagnetization refrigerators and motors and generators for turbo-electric aircraft propulsion systems.

Hyper Tech has received SBIR awards as well as $6 million in Phase 3 funding from Ohio Third Frontier along with additional funding from Rolls-Royce to continue development of its technology.

As a NASA success story, Hyper Tech will be featured in the agency’s publications such as Spinoffs Magazine or Innovation Magazine and featured in other ways as deemed appropriate by the GRC.
