WBNS 10TV has recently premiered a new series focused on the future of Central Ohio. Calling it “Central Ohio 2015: A Community Visioning Project,” the series brings together some of the most influential leaders in Central Ohio to examine the future of the region from five perspectives: economics, technology, education, medical and cultural.
The first segment aired February 12 and focused on technology. It examined the acceleration of technology in the Central Ohio region and highlighted the various organizations and individuals that are helping to fuel the growth of innovation in the region.
Reporter Jeff Hogan spoke with leaders from TechColumbus, BioOhio, OSU, Battelle and the City of Dublin about their efforts to support and foster this culture of innovation. Tony Denis, president of BioOhio, said he believes Central Ohio is well-suited to mature small companies from startup to scientific stardom. “Those are going to be the Microsofts and the Pfizers and the Genentechs of tomorrow," he said. "We don't know which one it's going to be but we're counting on at least one or two of them."
Five years ago TechColumbus was working with just eight people. “It was doing reasonably well, but it wasn’t on steroids,” said Ted Ford, president and CEO of TechColumbus. “Today we’re on steroids.” View the video segment: Innovation Becomes Synonymous with Central Ohio
