INSIDE TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER Electronics Manufacturer Located in Westerville, OH (just north of Columbus), Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc. is a global leader in the design and manufacture of:

  • high performance sensors, instruments, probe stations and systems used for the measurement of cryogenic temperatures

  • magnetic measurements and characterization

  • tools to characterize electrical properties of materials

Our modern facility employs approximately 130 scientists, engineers, administrative and production personnel. We are a family-owned, privately held company, in business since 1968. The Inside Technical Sales Manager is a newly created position. This person will manage the customer service department, supervise a staff of two and provide support to the sales engineers. They will help customers with technical questions regarding our sensors, instruments, probe stations and systems.

There is daily interaction with our ERP system (Verticent) and our CRM system (NetSuite).

  • Manage two customer service personnel, sales order entry processes and administrative services, using Verticent, our ERP system

    • Ensure compliance with documented sales processes and quality system policies

    • Maintain documentation of sales order entry processes

    • Continuously audit processes and procedures and recommend process improvements for efficiency and effectiveness

    • Review complex orders pre and post order entry to ensure proper configuration and special instructions are clearly communicated

    • Perform customer contract and audit reviews, and work with appropriate personnel to ensure they are completed accurately and expeditiously

    • Serve as point contact for all order entry related questions

    • Supervise letter of credit processing and compliance

    • Log, perform root cause analysis and escalate customer complaints as necessary to ensure efficient resolution and identification of trends

    • Work with customer relationship management (CRM) personnel to ensure a consistent and accurate customer contact database (NetSuite)

    • Work with CRM personnel to manage and distribute leads to outside sales personnel

    • Work with others accordingly to ensure lead-times are kept up-to-date

    • Manage internal request for quote (IRQ) process to ensure prompt customer contact and follow up

    • Manage and maintain Key Opportunity Prospects to aid manufacturing forecasting

  • Support outside sales personnel

  • Address basic technical questions primarily related to instrument, sensor and accessory product lines

  • Help fill in to issue and follow up on quotes, initiate special internal requests for quotes (IRQs), answer technical questions or direct to technical expert, maintain customer contact database and perform other sales duties while outside sales personnel are traveling

  • Assist in hosting customer visits

  • Assist in the design/development of sales reports and business metrics, and maintain these reports on a regular basis

  • Competitor intelligence

  • Help collect and log win/loss data and competitor developments to build into competitor intelligence knowledge base

  • Work with and have functional knowledge of computer systems and general office equipment

  • Make decisions with some latitude for un-reviewed action

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with experience in technical sales support. Minimum of 3 years inside sales experience (preferably in a high tech field) with a minimum of 2 years management or supervisory experience.

  • An Associate’s degree or additional related technical experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree. General interest in science, electronics and basic engineering principles, and desire to work in a high tech cutting edge environment extremely helpful.

  • Familiarity with sales workflow processes required Computer skills

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel

  • Database and business intelligence software experience desirable Travel requirements: May travel occasionally to customer sites or tradeshows

Language Skills:

  • Must have excellent verbal, writing and social skills

  • Comfortable responding to inquiries or complaints from customers

  • Effectively present information and status reports in a group setting, including to executive level management and company board

  • Interface with customers, customer service, sales, marketing, service personnel, engineering, manufacturing, production, accounting, purchasing, shipping and receiving

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents

  • Must be a team player, willing to accept input from various sources
