Java Programmer – Intermediate to Senior

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Intermediate to Senior Java Programmer for an entrepreneurial initiative in the search marketing analytics industry.  The ideal candidate will have the drive to apply his or her technical knowledge and skills to this challenging project, and will be committed to driving the programming initiative for an online software product that has the initial pull technology foundation, but will be enhanced to become an online business optimization (push/pull) platform.

Overview:
Designs, develops, and implements web-based Java applications to support business requirements. Follows approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing. Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A degree of creativity and latitude is required. Would report to the President & CEO.

Essential Job Functions:

· Designs systems and programs to meet complex business projects and/or enhancements to existing programs. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs are developed and coded. Ensures programs meet standards and technical specifications; performs technical analysis and component delivery.

· Codes, tests, debugs, implements, and documents complex programs.

· Creates APIs & applications that communicate with each other (Google Adwords, Analytics, SEO, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)

· Create pull and push technology (application) using APIs (both REST and SOAP) mentioned above

· Create, manage & analyze existing and new database architecture schemas & warehousing requirements

· Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.

· Gathers information from existing systems, analyzes program and time requirements. Assists project manager in preparing time estimates and justification for assigned tasks.

· Assists support and/or project personnel in resolving moderately complex program problems. Works with client and management to resolve issues and validate programming requirements within their areas of responsibility. Provides technical advice on complex programming.

· Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.

· Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews.

· Remains abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.

· Project Coordination:

Performs all development lifecycle quality assurance for the work of other team members, including the review of high-level designs, detail designs, code, and test plans and results.

Instructs, assigns, directs, and reviews the work produced by other team members on the Team.

Reports status and issues to Team Leads as necessary.

Assists in coordinating the implementation of changes to improve performance against metric targets.

Provides support and on-the-job training to more junior or less experienced team members.

Facilitates individual team member development of technical, functional, and industry skills.

Acts as a role model and mentors other team members.

Provides input to Team Leads on team member performance.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field preferred

· 4 to 6 years of programming and testing experience

· Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems and software: Java, MySQL, JDBL, Hibernate, WebServices (REST & SOAP) and XML parsers

· Proficient in SQL, data warehousing & StarSchemas

· Experience in Redmine or equivalent source code/release control

· Wide experience with Java 1.5.  

· Experience with Maven/ANT

· Wide experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript

· Experience with Wicket

This position requires on-site presence, generally Monday-Friday but will also require afterhours support, remotely. This can be a permanent, full- time (W-2) position with benefits, and features a geographically-appropriate and competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
