The life of a bootstrapping entrepreneur is fraught with elation, guilt, loneliness, stress, and even exhaustion. It can be a heavy burden to carry the weight of an entire business on our shoulders. So this month’s peer meeting topic will focus on the bootstrapping discipline known as the Burden of Command. Our Member peer groups will be discussing concepts like the loneliness of the top spot, the weight of others relying on us, wrestling with self-doubt, and success-oriented guilt. Here are some of the Burden of Command challenges our Members will be discussing with each other…
“I’ve never considered myself a creative person; yet now that I have my own company, I have to be innovative and creative and brilliant just to keep my head above water. I’m not sure I have the creative skills to come up with the solutions I’m going to need in order to succeed at this.”
“I’m the only one I know who “gets” my vision. Whenever I explain my business plan to someone, I get the blank stare. This has become problematic because I need to be able to articulate my vision in order to enlist the help of others.”
“I feel like it’s all up to me, like everyone is depending on me for their success – my family, my employees, my creditors. It’s a lot of pressure and it is frustrating. Why can’t someone else take responsibility for once?”
If you’re facing similar challenges, and would like to find out how other bootstrapping entrepreneurs have dealt with those same challenges, please join us. To attend this meeting, you must register here . Non-IBA Members can attend their first IBA monthly peer meeting, as our Guest, free of charge.
