Issues Forum: Health Care Reform and Wellness Plans

Health Care reform is here. What does it mean for employers? And what should employers do as the government agencies attempt to clarify the details? Join us for a discussion of the short and long term impact of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act on employers.

This seminar will include a discussion of:

  • The effects and timing of the new laws on employers
  • How to maintain the “grandfathered” status of your plan
  • The small business tax credit
  • Early retiree claim reimbursements
  • The use of wellness plans now and in the future
  • Actions an employer can take now to help alleviate costs

Speaker Details:

Patricia Anderson Pryor, partner with member firm Taft, Stettinius & Hollister. Ms. Pryor has been representing and defending employers for many years. She has guided employers in designing and implementing wellness programs, and as a result, is well-versed in the area of health care plan cost and helping employers minimize costs by encouraging employees to develop lifestyles that are compatible with good health and lower health risks. She can help employers understand what the Health Care Reform Act is trying to accomplish and what it really means to an employer immediately this year and in each future year when the Act is effective.
