JointVue Aims to Revolutionize Musculoskeletal Diagnostics

July 2, 2010

A Central Ohio company hopes to soon change entirely the protocols for diagnosing and determining treatments for joint abnormalities.  JointVue, a startup originating out of the OhioHealth Research Institute, is developing and testing methods that could allow clinicians to analyze joint space and motion in 3-D and in real time.  The JointVue Vision-D Plus device combines 3-D ultrasound and Joint Sound (vibration analysis) to enable clinicians to analyze joint abnormalities through the use of vision and sound.  The technology could be used as part of an orthopedic specialists’ series of diagnostic tools which currently includes X-ray, 3-D computed tomography, MRI and fluoroscopy.

Locally, JointVue is headquartered in the TechColumbus incubator and is led by Dr. Ray Wasielewski, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery.

Clinical trials for the JointVue system are currently being conducted at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey and Vanderbilt University in Tennessee.
