Leading Technology Blogger Announces Plans for 2010 Startup Tour – Nominate a Central Ohio Startup for Consideration

March 12, 2010

Contending that startups don’t get enough credit for the impact they have on the US economy, leading technology and economic blogger, Robert Cringely, has announced his plans for a national tour that will highlight the top 24 startup companies in the US.  Cringely is currently accepting nominations for innovative startups in six categories:  biotech, energy, entertainment, IT, materials and transportation.  He is hoping that he will receive several hundred nominations, primarily from startups outside the Silicon Valley.  These startups will be openly reviewed and discussed with the online community that follows his blog, and from the pool of nominations, the community will choose 24 companies that will comprise the national Cringely 2010 (Not in Silicon Valley) Startup Tour.

Beginning June 1, Cringely plans to travel by RV to visit each of the startups, visiting CEOs, spending a couple days at each company and learning about the technology, people and communities that have spawned these startups.  Not only will he be blogging about his visits, but he plans for video from the tour to wind up as a 13-part realty TV series.

The Kauffman foundation is supporting this effort.  In its first week, the program has generated 200 nominees.

If you know of an innovative startup for consideration, nominate them
