The Ohio Third Frontier has announced $19.58 million in grants that will be awarded to companies across the state to advance the state’s fuel cell, advanced energy and photovoltaic development industries. Locally two companies will receive funding as part of the awards program.
NexTech Materials, Ltd of Lewis Center will receive $1.49 million to improve manufacturing readiness for production of solid oxide fuel cells. The project is expected to create 156 jobs by 2016 and attract more than $50 million in follow-on investments. The company is working in collaboration with OSU and Hocking Technical Collage on the project.
SCI Engineered Materials, Inc. will receive $775,400 to commercialize advanced technology for solar cell manufacturing. SCI Engineered Materials is located in Columbus. The company is working with Kenton-based Robinson Fin Machines Inc., a heat transfer fin manufacturer, on the project.
