Nuance Healthcare, a division of the company that creates Dragon and other speech recognition and processing software, has announced a new competition to encourage healthcare software developers to integrate speech recognition into mobile or Web-based health care applications. An Example would be Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD mobile application, which allows radiologists to view images on mobile devices, and include real-time dictation of notes.
Nuance is offering up to $25,000 in prizes, as well as recognition at the 2012 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference for winners. Winners will also receive free developer licenses of Nuance software.
Entries will be based on four criteria: innovation, benefits to the physician workflow and patient care, functional implementation and visual appeal.
