TechColumbus is proud to announce that the State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI), the leading national organization dedicated to improving the economy through science, technology and innovation, has selected Columbus Ohio, as the location for its 15th annual conference. The conference, which has grown to become the nation’s premiere event for sharing ideas on the best ways to encourage technology-based economic development and foster regional prosperity in a global economy, will be held at the Hyatt on Capital Square in Columbus, Ohio, on November 8-9, 2011.
“Central Ohio provides an excellent backdrop for SSTI’s 15th annual conference,” said Dan Berglund, president and chief executive officer of SSTI. “The state has made science and technology a central focus for its economic development investments, so Columbus is a perfect choice to showcase successful technology-based economic development practices and strategies before a national and international audience.”
“We’re pleased to join with The Ohio State University and Columbus2020! to host this event in Columbus,” said Ted Ford, president and CEO of TechColumbus. “SSTI’s selection of our city for its annual conference underscores what all of us here already know – Columbus is one of the fastest rising tech economies in the nation.”
The annual SSTI conference attracts more than 250 business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the world to learn from the nation’s leading practitioners in technology-based economic development. Conference topics typically addressed include university commercialization, manufacturing excellence, angel and venture capital needs, business incubators, globalization, and public-private sector collaboration. Previous SSTI conference locations have included: Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Seattle and Chicago.
