New Drug Prompting Neoprobe to Expand

July 22, 2011

Dublin-based Neoprobe Corp. has established a European unit to gear up to sell the company's cancer-diagnostic products overseas.

The move, announced yesterday, comes as Neoprobe prepares to submit the company's lead product - Lymphoseek - to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration during the third quarter for approval to be sold commercially.

If approval comes, probably in mid-2012, the product will become the first cancer-detection drug specifically aimed at diagnosing cancer of the lymph node, the company said.

Neoprobe's plans to seek the same kind of approval in Europe led to the decision to open a site there.
