Ohio Early Stage Summit VI Helps Connect Promising Technology Companies with Venture Capital Firms

The Ohio Capital Fund this week held its sixth annual Ohio Early Stage Summit.  The event highlighted the success of the program which is viewed as one of the key contributors to the advancement of Ohio’s innovation economy.

The Ohio Capital Fund (OCF) is a fund of fund that invests in venture capital firms who agree to invest in Ohio startups.  The program is funded through state bonds and has grown significantly since its founding.  Currently 22 venture capital firms have taken advantage of the OCF program with 18 of these having a physical presence within the state and nine of which are new to the state having invested in Ohio companies solely because of the OCF.  The 46 companies that have received investments from these funds represents 1,600 jobs and more than $100,000 million annually in salaries. 

In addition to educational and networking opportunities, startup companies had the chance to preset their companies before the VCs through table displays and formal presentations. Three Central Ohio companies actively engaged in raising capital were invited to present before the group on Monday.  These included 3X Systems, CardiOx and DOMedia.
