Ohio Skills Bank Accepting RFPs for Projects to Close Skills Gaps between Workforce Supply and Employer Demand

November 19, 2010

Ohio Skills Bank regional administrators are now accepting RFPs for Workforce Innovation Solutions project ideas from businesses to close skills gaps between workforce supply and employer demand.

The Ohio Skills Bank is the state’s workforce system directly responsive to the needs of Ohio's employers. Led by the Ohio Board of Regents - in partnership with the Ohio Department of Development and other partners - the state is seeking input and engagement of businesses involved in critical industries.

Whether employers are calling out for workers with PhD's or GED's, the Ohio Skills Bank process is designed to ensure that – region by region – Ohio’s higher education institutions offer students the programs necessary for businesses to keep and create Ohio's 21st century jobs.

Proposals should be submitted as soon as possible as the funds available to Ohio businesses are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Persons with questions about the program can contact Cheryl Hay of Columbus State’s Center for Workforce Development at chay@cscc.edu or Tim Haynes of TechColumbus at thaynes@techcolumbus.org.
