Experience
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing Oracle Applications and databases in a 100 + user environment.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and solving database issues within a large IT Environment across multiple platforms.
  • Significant experience working with Oracle E-Business Suite/Applications is needed.
  • Must have experience with database running on Windows and Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Understanding of Oracle forms, reports and OA framework.
  • Knowledge of Shell or Perl scripting, ad-hoc queries, SQL, Procedures, PL/SQL, RMAN and query optimization and Discoverer.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills including written and verbal skills.
Description

he DBA is responsible for managing Oracle EBS R12, MYSQL and other databases. The major impact is for Oracle databases as they relate to the Oracle E-Business Suite, Energy Trading applications, and SCADA applications used to run AMP business processes. The DBA ensures that disk space usage, recovery and performance of the various databases and supports the overall corporate direction and goals. Evaluates database upgrade needs, and suggests changes to existing products or services to better aide the business requirements. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages activities of Oracle databases:40% of duties involve managing application performance and uptime related to the various production database instances; 20% of duties involve creating and managing development, test and patch database versions to satisfy the needs of the application teams; 20% of duties require hands-on, senior level support of Oracle applications; 20% of duties require the disaster recovery environment databases to ensure that data is being processed at the DR site in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in assigned projects according to the IT project management methodology, procedures, and processes.
  • Performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in planning, design, installation and on-going administration of AMP’s databases.
  • Provide technical analysis to support potential investments in new, replacement, or emerging technologies in the applications and database environments.
  • Interacts with IT team members to determine software needs.
  • Manages the installation and maintenance of databases and patches to applications.
  • Ensures close technical interchanges on database related issues with system administrators, hardware engineers, project managers, and operations personnel as necessary.
  • Develops and demonstrates an understanding of IT needs to support customer and business needs.
  • Resolves escalated customer and vendor issues.
  • Resolves daily issues of a complex scope that impact the team and AMP’s overall business objectives.
  • Participates in the development of a service level agreement and ongoing management of service level compliance.
  • Develops and enhances cooperative interdepartmental and vendor relationships and communications.
  • Develops a performance measurement framework and feedback system to team members on issues such as customer service, communication, and technical skills, in order to enhance the quality of support delivered.
  • Manages “Oracle Service Requests” by providing action plan updates, data fixes and patches as applicable.
  • Working knowledge of the OC4J process.
