OSU to Begin Smart Grid Technology Training

April 15, 2010

OSU will soon begin to train electrical engineers on the development, deployment and maintenance of smart grid technologies.  Smart grid refers to new methods for distributing and managing use of electrical power.  Computer enabled meters and other systems allow consumers to more accurately monitor and manage their energy usage, while allowing providers key information about power surges and potential outages.  Smart grid technology is seen as a key to the nation’s energy independence.

OSU received $2.5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment program to fund the training.
