Dr. Clay Marsh has been named to lead the OSU Medical Center’s research program and will assume direction of the center’s innovative personalized health care program. Marsh’s tenure with the medical center began in 1985; and in his most recent role as director of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, he helped elevate the program to one of national prominence.
Marsh will lead planning and expansion of the OSU Medical Center’s research program which in 2008 reached $199.4 million. In addition, as executive director of the OSU Center for Personalized Health Care, he will actively advance the medical center’s reputation in this growing field which utilizes genetic-based information to develop tailored medical treatments that are adapted to specific individuals. Personalized medicine seeks to transform medicine from a reactive, disease-based approach to the practice of proactive, wellness-based medicine.
