Health Care DataWorks (HCD), an OSU spinoff, has announced its Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Appliance version 3.2 has received the federal government’s “meaningful use” of electronic medical records (EHR) stamp of approval.
Earlier this year, Medicare and Medicaid began offering financial incentives for healthcare systems and professionals who demonstrate their adoption, implementation, upgrade or use of certified EHR technology.
HCD is one of the first data warehouse providers to receive EHR Modular certification to calculate and submit clinical quality measures for both inpatient practice and ambulatory practice types.
“This certification means healthcare organizations can now leverage our solution to help them achieve ‘meaningful use’ and qualify for vital incentive dollars,” said Herb Smaltz, HCD CEO.
Working with HCD can be especially beneficial for organizations that have multiple EHRs and whose EHR modules do not currently meet meaningful use certification. HCD simplifies the reporting process for such organizations and in addition, these hospitals could use the EDW Appliance to calculate and submit clinical quality measures which gets them closer to total compliance with new federal mandates.
HCD is a technology company created to commercialize the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence capabilities created at the OSU Medical Center. HCD is yet another indicator of Central Ohio’s growing strength within the healthcare IT sector.
