In 2006, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce launched the Attract and Retain Talent initiative focused on the talented young professionals, artists and entrepreneurs in Central Ohio. At that time more than 4,000 of these young professionals, ages 25-34, responded to a survey about “What Makes Columbus ‘Cool’ for the Young & Talented.” Based on the information gathered, the initiative set forth to promote the region as an appealing place for a young, well-educated and highly mobile workforce to settle.
To measure its progress with this initiative over the last four years, the Chamber recently administered a follow-up survey asking the same questions. These survey results, as well as other progress, will be reported to the community during the upcoming 2011 State of the YP program, scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2011, from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites hotel at the Columbus Airport.
The event will start with a 90-minute career and professional development session comprising workshops, facilitated panels and interactive forums to address topics of interest to the attendees. There is a $30 registration fee for this part of the evening.
The career and professional development event will be followed by a complimentary networking and the State of the YP program from 5:30 – 7:30.
All stakeholders in Central Ohio’s future are encouraged to attend to meet young professionals and learn more about attracting and retaining them in the region.
